Originating from Puglia in southern Italy, Stracciatella takes its name from the Italian word for “torn” or “shredded,” inspired by its delicate, ragged appearance. It is sometimes affectionately known as “Burrata without its shell.”

Made using the traditional pasta filata technique, mozzarella curd is stretched into delicate strands known as sfilacci, then gently folded with fresh cream. The result is richer and creamier than mozzarella, with a silky-smooth texture and an unmistakably milky finish.

Unlike lesser-quality versions made with leftover curd trimmings, our Stracciatella is crafted from freshly stretched mozzarella strands, giving it a beautifully delicate texture and refined flavor.

Similar to Burrata, Stracciatella pairs wonderfully with fresh ingredients, yet its versatility makes it even easier to enjoy. Spoon it over fruit, ham, roasted pumpkin, or nuts on toasted bread for an elegant bruschetta. Add it to finished pasta or risotto for extra richness, or use it to create indulgent desserts.
